This paperpresentstwosetsoffeatures,shaperepresentationandkinematicstructure,forhuman activity recognitionusingasequenceofRGB-Dimages.Theshapefeaturesareextractedusingthedepth information inthefrequencydomainviasphericalharmonicsrepresentation.Theotherfeaturesinclude the motionofthe3Djointpositions(i.e.theendpointsofthedistallimbsegments)inthehumanbody. Both setsoffeaturesarefusedusingtheMultipleKernelLearning(MKL)techniqueatthekernellevelfor human activityrecognition.Ourexperimentsonthreepubliclyavailabledatasetsdemonstratethatthe proposed featuresarerobustforhumanactivityrecognitionandparticularlywhentherearesimilarities among theactions.
