Cone-beam computer tomography (CT) has evolved as a topic of rapidly growing interest during the last years (see, for example, Grangeat et al (1996, 1997), PMB (1998) and Carlsson (1999) and references therein). The development of two-dimensional CT detectors has a large impact on the complete spectrum of applications of x-ray CT. This is especially valid for areas like non-destructive testing and medical imaging.
