Modern Network Languages WWW, also called the Web, is a worldwide network of computers that communicate with each other using a standard called HTTP. HTTP, The Hypertext Transfer Protocol is an application-level protocol for distributed information systems. HTTP has been in use since 1990 as set forth by the World-Wide Web global information initiative. Web information is stored in documents called Web pages and files stored on computers called Web servers. Computers that read and access the Web pages are called Web clients. Web clients view the pages with a program called a Web browser.
