This document gives a functional description of the Ethernet Switch Subsystem and related portions of the Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) module. The Ethernet Switch Subsystem consists of the Ethernet Media Access Controller (EMAC) module, Serial Gigabit Media Independent Interface (SGMII) modules, Physical Layer (PHY) device Management Data Input/Output (MDIO) module, Ethernet Switch module, and other associated submodules that are integrated on the device.
