新浪科技讯 北京时间8月26日晚间消息，据国外媒体报道，思科今天宣布，他们有意收购私有传媒公司ExtendMedia。
ExtendMedia是一家内容管理软件系统供应商，通过付费媒体货币化和广告支持业务模式管理视频内容的整个生命周期。ExtendMedia总部位于马萨诸塞州的纽顿(Newton)，但大部分员工在加拿大的多伦多工作。思科收购ExtendMedia后，后者将帮助前者为服务提供商发布多屏IP视频。
“随着视频市场转型以及消费者对多屏视频内容需求的增加，服务提供商正加强他们的基础设施以管理和提供市场需要的视频，同时向用户提供更为丰富的体验。” 思科服务提供商视频技术部高级副总裁兼总经理恩里克·罗德里格斯(Enrique Rodriguez)表示，“ExtendMedia将帮助服务提供商提供更具互动性和更加个人化的体验，并为消费者优化视频观看设备，从而巩固思科在 IP视频服务领域的地位。”
一旦双方达成协议，ExtendMedia将为思科带来一个精于IP网络多屏视频的强大软件团队。ExtendMedia的CMS软件将与思科现有的IP 视频产品融合，形成思科下一代视频结构的核心。思科与ExtendMedia的合作将帮助服务提供商部署下一代端对端视频结构，从而在任何网络、任何设备上都能为客户提供各种各样最好的视频体验。
思科收购意向的财务内容目前尚未公布。收购交易的实现还需满足多项标准成交条件，预计最快将于思科2011财年上半年完成。一旦收购完成，ExtendMedia的大部分成员将进入思科服务提供商视频技术部，而ExtendMedia的销售和专业服务团队也将进入思科的销售和高级服务项目组。(子云)
