I thought its kind of dumb question but a search with Google seems to indicate it is not even possible to copy/paste a bootable drive to another USB? But even if we were able to copy it, why shouldn't it work? (that is create a duplicate bootable drive)

Because it's not only the files on a USB flash drive which make it bootable, but the partition table configuration, the metadata about the organization of the drive contents, whether it MBR or GPT, which tells a PC it is bootable.
