Abstr act: Sharing geospatial information is not only the requirement of information society, but also the
technology development trend of modern geographic information. This paper discusses the purpose and
significance of establishing geographic information public service platform, and gives a systemic
introduction to the platform contents, the key technologies, the basic functions. Furthermore it gives a
new viewpoint to the modern surveying and mapping development on both the contents of original data
collection and the service mode facing to the information society.
